NEW UPPER SUWANNEE RIVER VALLEY MAPS PUBLISHED
By Gene Ingle, MAPSource, Inc.
Published: Mar 8, 2007

New maps of three counties in Florida's Upper Suwannee River Valley have just been published by MAPSource, a leading publisher of map products in the Southeast.

The three are:

  • Suwannee County, whose county seat is Live Oak.
  • Hamilton County, whose county seat is Jasper.
  • Lafayette County, whose county seat is Mayo.

  • The new maps are:
  • A street atlas that includes all three counties showing detailed streets of and surrounding these other communities:
    • Live Oak, FL
    • Jasper, FL
    • Mayo, FL
    • Jennings, FL
    • Branford, FL
    • White Springs, FL
    • Dowling Park, FL
  • A laminated, colorful wall map of Suwannee County showing all streets in the county, with enlargements of Live Oak and Branford.
  • A folding map of Suwannee County covering the identical area as the wall map but at a smaller scale.

  • Gene Ingle, MAPSource publisher, said that in publishing the maps his cartographers relied heavily on information provided by 911/GIS sources in each county. These included:

  • Suwannee County: James M. Robinson, 911 coordinator.
  • Hamilton County: Roger Ehlert, director of the Division of Emergency Management.
  • Lafayette County: John T. Bell, director of Rescue/911.

The Upper Suwannee MAPSource products complement products published recently by MAPSource for three counties in the Lower Suwannee Valley:
  • Levy County, FL
  • Dixie County, FL
  • Gilchrist County, FL

    Those products are:
  • A street atlas that includes streets in all three counties.
  • Two folding maps of Levy County -- North & South.
  • A laminated Levy County wall map that shows every street in the county -- and pinpoints the site where a new nuclear power plant is proposed.
  • A laminated wall map of Dixie County.
  • A laminated wall map of Gilchrist County.
  • A folding map of Dixie & Gilchrist counties.
  • MAPSource expects to complete its map coverage of the Suwannee River Valley upon publication of products covering Taylor, Madison and Jefferson counties, whose date has not been set.

MAPSource recently published similar products for:

  • Columbia County, FL (Lake City)
  • Baker County, FL (Macclenny)
  • Union County, FL (Lake Butler)
  • MAPSource currently is updating its Tallahassee-area products. The update will add:

  • Coverage of Wakulla and Gadsden counties to its Leon County street atlas.
  • Coverage of part of Wakulla County to its Tallahassee folding map.
  • MAPSource -- based in St. Petersburg with retail map stores in Tampa, Orlando, Pensacola and New Orleans -- has long been a major publisher for map users in the Southeast. From Baton Rouge to Savannah to the Florida Keys, its products include 41 street atlases, 51 folding maps and 68 wall maps.

MAPSource is represented in the Suwannee River Valley by Wayne Stewart, whose cell phone number is 727-647-7506. He also can be reached by dialing 1-800-262-7123 Ext. 20 -- a call that will be answered by a human (if available) and forwared to Wayne.

NEW MAP PRODUCTS OF LEVY, DIXIE & GILCHRIST COUNTIES PINPOINT PROPOSED NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
    By Gene Ingle, MAPSource, Inc.
    Published: Feb 6, 2007

New map products of the Lower Suwannee River Valley have just been published by MAPSource, St. Petersburg, the Florida West Coast's leading map publisher.

The products show every street and road in Levy, Dixie and Gilchrist counties -- and pinpoint the proposed Progress Energy nuclear power plant, including details of the surrounding area.

    The newly published maps are:

  • A street atlas that includes all three counties.
  • Colorful, laminated wall maps of each of the three counties whose indexing system matches the street atlas grid for grid.
  • Three colorful folding road maps:
    1. Southern Levy County, showing detailed streets and points of interest in such places as Yankeetown, Inglis, Cedar Key, Gulf Hammock and Otter Creek.
    2. Northern Levy County, showing detailed streets and points of interest in such places as Chiefland, Williston, Bronson and Fanning Springs.
    3. Dixie-Gilchrist, showing detailed streets and points of interest in both counties, including Cross City, Old Town, Trenton, Fanning Springs and Bell.

    4. The folding maps' indexing system matches that of the street atlas and wall maps grid for grid.
  • Before the end of March, MAPSource will publish map products for the Upper Suwannee River Valley, including Suwannee, Lafayette and Hamilton counties. It recently published map products for Columbia, Baker and Union counties.

In publishing the Lower Suwannee Valley map products, MAPSource relied heavily on street information provided by emergency and addressing offices in the three counties, said Publisher Gene Ingle. As part of their extensive research efforts, MAPSource researchers also drive local streets, not only to verify the information obtained from official sources, but also to find streets that their research may have missed.

Ingle said his researchers drive more Florida streets than any other map publisher. MAPSource's street-level-detail products cover 25,000 square miles in Florida -- about two-thirds of the state.

MAPSource publishes 45,000 square miles of detailed street map products throughout the Southeast -- from Baton Rouge, LA, on the west to Savannah, GA, on the north to Punta Gorda on the south. Its products include 32 street atlas titles, 52 wall map titles and 42 folding map titles.

It owns retail stores in Tampa Bay, Orlando, Pensacola and Greater New Orleans. These stores offer not only MAPSource products, but also maps from the world's major map publishers, including globes.
